Lev works in solid black, ornamental and black and grey. Most of his work covers large areas — an arm, a back, a calf — so it starts from the structure rather than from the motif.
The design is built on the body itself, not only on paper. Symmetry that looks right on a flat drawing skews the moment it crosses a muscle, and that is the hardest thing to correct later.
Large pieces are split into sessions by what the skin will take, not by what suits a calendar. A full sleeve usually runs over several months.

What does Lev do, and what less?
Blackwork, ornamental and black and grey, mostly on large surfaces — arm, back, calf. He starts from the structure rather than the motif, because a shape that does not work from two metres away is not rescued by small detail. Colour and neo-traditional are not his style.
How is a price reached with Lev?
Per project rather than per sitting. A solid black area is measured in hours of fill, so the estimate comes after the placement on the body and the final size are both visible — usually after a short meeting. There is a minimum charge here too, and a small black piece does not go below it.
What does Lev turn down?
A symmetrical ornament asked for over a joint, or anywhere the skin moves a lot: symmetry drifts there and there is nothing to correct afterwards. He also will not start a sleeve that is not planned through to the end, because half a sleeve with a new idea stitched onto it later looks exactly like that.
How long is the wait for Lev?
Two to three weeks for a small black piece. On a large project the first sitting is booked fairly quickly, and a series is then fixed across several months — by what the skin tolerates rather than by what suits the diary.
