Colour tattoos
The palette is chosen against the skin it will live in, not against a screen. That is the difference between colour that works and colour that looked right in the drawing.
Colour in skin is always a layer under a layer. Skin tone takes part in the result, so the same pigment reads differently on different people — which is why we choose a palette against the arm rather than against a file.
Some tones fade faster, the light and warm ones first, and sun accelerates that more than anything else. A large colour piece is a commitment to sunscreen and to a touch-up sitting every few years, and we say so before starting rather than after.
