Ornament is the style where placement is part of the design rather than a decision taken after it. A symmetrical band around an arm has to close in the right place, and that is settled on the skin with a tape measure before a single line is drawn.
Repetition both forgives and punishes. The eye catches a break in the rhythm long before it catches an imprecise line, so most of the work here is in the setting out: once the grid is right, the execution becomes methodical.
